Q and A with Hilary Robinson.

PopCity put up a question and answer with Hilary Robinson, the Dean of the College of Fine Arts (CFA) here at Carnegie Mellon. I know her through the Design Review committee and some other GSA stuff – think she’s great and she has some interesting answers about the way she thinks, the way she lives, and Pittsburgh.

What’s the best thing anyone ever said about you?
About a year ago, the wife of a colleague said, ‘There’s a great sense of calm about you, it’s something that gives me great comfort and confidence’ and in similar vein, on Sunday night someone said to me that there was a sense of serenity in my home. If people sense that about me, and about the environments I make, it is wonderful. I don’t recognize it about myself, but similar things have been said to me a few times so I believe it, and am immensely grateful for that quality.

I am finally getting caught up with things now that school is slightly calm and spring break is around the next corner.

I posted a few pictures from the last few weeks, and will get the February gallery up soon.

Also, the website is really almost ready. This month. For Serious.

We might go ice skating tonight but plans seems scattered and people hold regrets. Tomorrow I am off to visit a possible house to live in next year. Amy may come visit soon. I haven’t been writing enough. Dossier seems to be on track. I am almost ready to perform research that I care about. I spend my time thinking about visualizations. I read more. I talk less.

9 Yeah Yeah Yeahs 486
10 Death Cab for Cutie 413

Alright then.

I guess I have done somethings and this is nearly put back together like the way I want. Just a little while longer here then and we will be all back to the functioning quasi-normalcy.

And then you can watch for real things – because this is the last time (like the song).

Alright so I actually decided to sit down and get this all put back together. Instead of studying. And this mostly happened in the hour between my two research meetings this morning.

Speaking of, I should really start doing something useful.

Ignore the damage.

I upgraded to TXP 4.0.4 and it isn’t happy with my php tags or something. So ignore that nothing works, and I will get on that once my midterm is properly failed on Thursday.

Things keep happening.

pink for October.

Go Pink during the month of October to bring attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month, get people talking about breast cancer, and raise money for research.

It is getting colder.
The post-it notes spread across my walls.
I force PhDs onto those I love.
I pace the city sidewalks.
The sewing piles up.
My desk has more smudges.
I read a paper each day and then I ask myself what each means.

I think about time and writing.

I think about rearranging shapes.
And I know it necessary, but I can’t get it quite right.
